CATFISH RECORDS

●1950年代初期にオーネット・コールマンはLAへ赴き、ボビー・ブラッフォードと散発的に、しかし長期に渡り、共演することになる。その後(1961年)、ジョン・カーターがLAへ活動拠点を移したことにより、ボビー・ブラッフォードはジョン・カーターとバンドを組むことになる。「The New Art Jazz Ensemble」というバンド名で活動を開始したこのバンドは1969年にデビューアルバム「Seeking」と、1971年から1972年にかけて録音されたセカンド・アルバム「SECRETS」をマイナーレーベルREVELATION RECORDSより発表。そこには、オーネット・コールマンのアプローチに影響を受けたと思われるスタイル、又、カーターとブラッフォードという名コンビによるふくよかで色彩感豊か、かつ、歯切れのよいリアルな演奏が残されていた。MOSAICは、このバンドによる貴重な履歴を3枚組の復刻版CDで登場させることに着手。復刻にあたり、REVELATIONの設立者でもあり、プロデューサーでもあるJonathan Horwich氏、Bill Hardy氏 所有のアウトテイク集ではない貴重な未発表録音の数々が収められた。
